Jennifer Langer, founding director of Exiled Writers Ink, is a poet and editor of four anthologies of exiled literature: Bend in the Road (1997); Crossing the Border: Voices of Refugee and Exiled Women (2002); Silver Throat of the Moon: Writing in Exile (2005) and If Salt has Memory: Jewish Exiled Writing (2008) published Five Leaves. She was co-editor of Exiled Ink magazine and has written numerous articles and has presented papers on aspects of the literature of exile. She has also facilitated creative writing workshops in diverse settings, including Further Education colleges, given her teaching and refugee project management background. She has worked collaboratively with poets from Iran, Afghanistan and Iraq on editing their work. On International Women’s Day 2001, Jennifer received an award from Haringey Council for ‘an outstanding contribution to the community’. In 2007 the London Borough of Barnet gave her an award ‘in recognition of service to the borough’.

She holds an MA in Cultural Memory from the School of Advanced Study University of London and a PhD from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, on literature by exiled Iranian Jewish women. In 2011 she received a Hadassah-Brandeis Institute Research Award and is currently Research Associate for the SOAS Centre for Gender Studies and Member of the SOAS Centres for Iranian Studies and Jewish Studies. Jennifer is the daughter of Holocaust survivors from Germany.
